Summer work

Hi Everyone! Well, my daughter is out of school and the summer schedule has started. Whew! We are halfway into our first week of summer theatre camp and we are having a ball. We have 33 children ranging from 4th - 9th grades. We will finish out this week and next and perform next Friday with an hour and a half of material.

Steve and I are preparing for a concert this Sunday. We are the featured artists on a concert series at a local Catholic church. I am singing a piece that he has done before, written for voice and organ by Louis Vierne. It's called "Angelus" and it's divided into three sections - Au Matin, A Midi and Au Soir. They are in French and are a bit difficult but it's been a good challenge for me. Also on the program are pieces by Leonard Bernstein and Noel Coward. I will be singing my you-know-what off, for sure! I am also singing a piece I have not revisited in almost 25 years - The Audition Song from Die Fledermaus.

It will be fun. Hard but fun. Again, I climb back on the roller coaster!

I'm looking forward to some down time in July to tend to house and garden. Both need some work. Sigh.

How is the season going for you?

Back at it!

It's been a while since I took the time to write. I guess, like so many of us, this time of the year is just super busy and filled to the brim every day.

This past week was my daughter's 9th birthday. She is changing and growing right before my eyes and it just amazes sometimes. Tonight we were watching this new reality show - YUP ANOTHER ONE! - all about the casting for the next lead of "Legally Blonde" currently on Broadway. It was fun to watch it with her and see what her thoughts were on the whole process. Earlier in the day I went to see her play at a mini recital. She was great! And I also had the chance to watch her father - he drove her there as it was "his" weekend. I am so happy to be having the kind of relationship I have with my daughter. It is full and rich and intimate and ..words fail me when I think how much I love my little/big girl. I see such a different thang going on between her and her dad. It's less close, less intimate and I can't help but think...does he know what he's missing?

Anyway....another subject! I finally saw "Sex and the City". LOVED IT! The crowd I attended with...not so much. To be fair, they were nice, fun people. My friend invited me to attend with about 8 other co-workers - 9 girls, 1 boy total. I arrived my usual 10 minutes (fashionably) late to find 2 girls at the large, reserved table. Okay. My friend is no where in sight...and she remains that way for some 30-40 minutes. As the others arrive I begin to see a pattern. ALL of them automatically pull out their i.d. to show as they place their drink orders. ALL of them. Whoa.

I have shoes older than these people. Now, to their credit, I was included in conversations, mostly, but the range of knowledge was a bit....short. Interesting. But not really interesting.

Do I sound like an old fogey?

Oh shit.

Anyway, the movie was fabulous and yes, a tad "contrived" as my best friend suggested but the characters stayed true to the series and all the story lines ended very nicely. The fashion was beyond impressive and the sex was delectable.

I didn't feel the "City" as so much a main character as in the tv series but that could be because the girls were sooo much to look at!

I came home feeling pretty good about my choices in friends and in my mate. I also came home feeling a bit fluffy but not fluffy headed. Good, huh?

And I think I fell just a little more in love with my husband this weekend. Gotta love when that happens.

HOT here in the frozen north. Whew! Love the sun but only from a beach vantage point.

Went to the annual Indian Village Home and Garden Tour on Saturday. Walked through some really amazing homes filled with the spirit and history of Detroit. If I won the lottery tomorrow I have one of them all picked out. Sigh.

My honey is home from his gig. Gotta go. 'Nite all.
